DIMAPUR — In a significant step towards ensuring that no vulnerable child is left behind, the Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), in collaboration with Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, Kiphire, and Department of Economics & Statistics, organised the first legal awareness and outreach camp under the SAATHI Campaign 2025 at District Court Complex, Kiphire, on June 30.
According to a DIPR report, the SAATHI Campaign - which stands for Survey for Aadhaar and Access to Tracking & Holistic Inclusion - is a nationwide initiative of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA).
It seeks to identify children in need of care and protection and connect them with the appropriate rights and entitlements by facilitating Aadhaar registration, ensuring school enrolment, access to welfare schemes, and providing legal assistance wherever necessary.
The initiative symbolises the legal services machinery becoming a companion to every vulnerable child, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The legal awareness camp, organised as part of the national SAATHI initiative of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), was conducted at two major locations in the district —District Court Complex, Kiphire, and ADC Office, Pungro town.

These camps aimed to identify destitute and vulnerable children under the age of 18 years and facilitate their Aadhaar registration, issuance of birth certificates and permanent residential certificates, thereby enabling them to access a range of government schemes, educational benefits, and legal entitlements.
The initiative witnessed active participation from parents, guardians, and community stakeholders across various areas under Kiphire jurisdiction. During the campaign, approximately 85 children were successfully registered for Aadhaar, 46 children were issued birth certificates and 39 children were issued permanent residential certificates, marking a significant step in digital and legal inclusion.
The success of the camp was made possible by the collaborative efforts of multiple departments, notably the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Department of Economic & Statistics, Aadhaar Enrolment Centre Kiphire, and KDLSA.
The coordinated approach ensured smooth facilitation and immediate service delivery.
“This multi - department collaboration highlights the growing commitment to building a just, inclusive, and accessible society. The legal camp was not just an isolated outreach but a stepping stone towards long - term empowerment for children in need of care and protection.
“It laid the groundwork for more such camps in the future, strengthening the mission of SAATHI to become a truly transformative grassroots initiative,” the report added.
