Kohima, April 20 (EMN): Nagaland is all set to host the first edition of 'Miss Northeast' in September at the state capital.
The contestants would be the individual pageant winners from all eight northeastern states. The organiser, Northeast Beauty Pageant Organisation (NBPO), said this while addressing a presser on April 20 after having their general meeting in Kohima.
The organisation formed in 2021 is the official state beauty pageant organiser from all the eight northeastern states--Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal, Assam, Tripura, Sikkim, and Meghalaya.
President NBPO, Mele Pucho, said that the main purpose of the organisation is to create more opportunities for Northeast girls. He said that the competition would be ‘very different’ compared to other beauty pageant platforms as it will be a competition among the champions/winners of the eight states.
Further, it will be an authentic and genuine platform as all the state beauty pageant organisers are members of the organisation.
Some of the main objectives of the organisation are to promote unity among the people of Northeast through cultural exchange and to legitimise the purpose of Miss Northeast. The organization also aims to promote the growth and provide platform among the youth of NE to excel beyond the region.
Also, the organisation has plans to tie up with international beauty pegeants and is looking for more platforms so as to open ways for winners of Miss Northeast to participate.
Making it an annual pageant, the second edition would be held in Sikkim next year.
