Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie in Peren district, led by its Dean Dr. Capt. G Dhanan Jaya Rao along with veterinary specialists namely Dr. Gunjan Das, Dr. S Mukherjee, Dr. Laltlankimi, Dr. Sashotola Ozukum, Dr. R John and Dr. Tukheswar and ten final year students conducted a first animal health camp and first dog show at KU town hall, Mon, on October 22.
An update from the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday stated that the programme was organised in collaboration with the Mon district administration, Mon veterinary department and 35 Assam Rifles.
K Thavaseelan, deputy commissioner, Mon, made all the arrangements and personally monitored the conduct of the first dog show and animal health camp. He was assisted by the chief veterinary officer, Dr. Gloria Ngullie and her team of veterinary officers including Dr. Vikato Sumi, Dr. Manloi Konyak, Dr. Suiding Hinglak and Dr. Manjam Konyak. The update stated that former MLA C John Konyak had also actively participated in the camp.
Dog show was conducted for the first time in Mon. Altogether, 46 participants of various breeds have participated in the show.
It also stated that a total of 286 dogs, 16 cattle, 34 pigs and 84 poultry were treated at the animal health camp. A total of 164 dogs were administered anti rabies vaccine, adding blood and faecal tests were conducted on 28 dogs.
A chicken cage made from locally available materials designed by the College of Veterinary Sciences, Jalukie, was handed over to the deputy commissioner, Mon, for the benefit of the people of Mon district.
