- DIMAPUR — In yet
another fire incident in Dimapur, a cluster of houses was gutted and 11
households affected at Lomithi Colony-B, Ward-15, on Friday.
- This is the third consecutive fire tragedy to strike the
commercial hub after the January 1 incident at K Kire colony in Kuda village
and the January 2 inferno at Naharbari Ward-8.
- When contacted, sub-inspector T Akamba Tikhir of West Fire
Station, Dimapur, informed that they received a distress call at 12:48 pm after
which two fire tenders along with fire personnel were promptly dispatched to
the scene.
- Later, two fire tenders from Central Fire Station also
arrived, and it took over an hour to completely extinguish the fire, Tikhir
said.
- As per the landlord of the cluster of houses, the fire might
have originated from the kitchen of one of the dwellings.
- The fire officer said that almost all the houses within the
compound was completely destroyed by the fire, except for one house that was
partially damaged.
- The estimated loss of property is yet to be ascertained,
while no casualty was reported, he added.
- One of the affected tenants who runs a tea stall shared that
all his family documents, his scooter, and INR 42,000 cash were reduced to
ashes.
