A massive fire at East Block colony in Burma Camp, Dimapur, gutted 65 houses on Sunday morning, leaving around 250 families homeless.

DIMAPUR — A massive fire broke out at East Block colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur, on Sunday morning, rendering around 250 families homeless.
According to personnel from the Central Fire Station, a distress call was received at around 7 am, following which four fire tenders along with fire personnel were immediately dispatched to the spot.
They were later joined by three fire tenders from the West Fire Station and two fire tenders from Chümoukedima to assist in the firefighting operations.


It took approximately two hours to completely douse the inferno. Fire personnel informed that the Central Fire Station fire tenders made seven trips during the operation.
In total, 65 thatch houses were reduced to ashes, leaving about 250 families without shelter.
The cause of the fire and the total loss of property are yet to be ascertained. No casualties were reported.
