DIMAPUR — A devastating fire broke out at
Naharbari Ward-8 in Dimapur on Thursday, affecting more than 200 households.
According to the ASI of Central Fire Station Dimapur, G
Niamlungpou Gonmei, after receiving a distress call at 11.29 am, they
immediately dispatched five fire tenders along with firefighters to the scene.
They were later joined by four more fire tenders—two each
from West Fire Station and Chümoukedima Fire Station. Even SDRF personnel
reached the spot to reinforce the firefighters.
It took them around 90 minutes to control the inferno, he
said.
Gonmei informed that the affected area has two
landowners—with one plot containing around 70 households and the other with
around 150 households.
The cause of the fire and estimated loss of property by the
inferno were yet to be ascertained, while no casualty was reported.
In another fire incident, on January 1, four houses were
burnt down at Half Nagarjan (Kuda village), Dimapur.
According to an update, the Central Fire Station received a
distress call at 10.48 am. Two fire tenders each from the Central Fire Station
and the West Fire Station were dispatched to the scene.
The fire was brought under control after more than an hour
of struggle, it stated.
The estimated loss of property by the blaze was reported to
be around INR. 1.5 crore, while the cause of the fire was yet to be
ascertained. No casualty was reported.
