
Remains of a house that was gutted by devastating fire in
Tuensang town on February 14 night.
- TUENSANG — Several
houses in Tuensang main town were reduced to cinder in a devastated fire, which
broke on February 14 at around 10 pm rendering some families homeless.
- While the exact cause of the fire was still unknown, sources
informed that the fire sparked-off from a residential home at Bazaar A under
Ward 6.
- Sources further informed that stores, tea hotels,
warehouses, other commercial shops and some residential houses were gutted
during the incident.
- In a statement, Imlikaba, chairman of Bazaar A, stated that
the incident had caused major loss to the business community and rendered some
families homeless.
- “Exact details on the number of shops and homes destroyed
are unknown, however, approximately 15 Shops, 10 warehouses have been burnt
down to ashes,” the chairman said.
- Meanwhile, the chairman has thanked the public of Tuensang,
Muslim Masjid community and the personnel from Tuensang fire services and Assam
Rifles for their services during the time of need and prevented the fire from
spreading to adjoining areas.
