Kohima, March 7 (EMN): Two houses were burned in a fire that broke out on Wednesday morning below the PWD's office, at a tightly packed municipal locality in Kohima town.
According to fire fighters from the district's emergency services, the fire broke out at around 9:30 am. A thatched house was gutted while another was partially burned. No casualty was reported. Information about the cause of the fire was unavailable at the time this news report was going to press.
Four fire tenders were pressed into service. The emergency personnel managed to douse the raging fire after about two hours. The damage from the fire is estimated at around INR20 lakh.
A youth leader from the colony, Teisozhavi Tetso, expressed appreciation to the fire department for taking timely action and preventing the fire from spreading to other buildings.
