DIMAPUR — A culinary collaboration celebrating Naga cuisine, culture and youth talent will be held at The Maroon Room in Guwahati on June 19.
Titled “Fire in the Hills”, the event will feature Kalen H Zhimomi, Miss Chümoukedima and a student of Hotel Management and Catering, who will present a specially curated menu inspired by the food traditions of Nagaland.
According to the organisers, the showcase will highlight indigenous ingredients, traditional cooking techniques and the cultural narratives associated with Naga cuisine.
The event is being organised by The Maroon Room, a contemporary dining and cocktail destination in Guwahati that promotes regional ingredients and culinary experiences from across the Northeast.
The organisers described Zhimomi as an emerging culinary talent with a passion for preserving and promoting Naga food traditions. They stated that she comes from a family with strong roots in the hospitality sector and represents a new generation of young Nagas seeking to promote their cultural heritage through food.
As part of the collaboration, The Maroon Room will pair the Naga-inspired menu with its contemporary Asian culinary offerings and beverage programme.
The event will also feature a musical performance by Toshi Yimkhiung.
According to the organisers, the initiative aims to provide a platform for young Naga talent while introducing guests, media representatives, influencers and food enthusiasts to the diversity and cultural significance of Naga cuisine.
The organisers stated that the programme seeks to celebrate the art, culture, traditions and culinary heritage of Nagaland while encouraging cultural exchange through food and storytelling.
The Maroon Room also noted that it has previously hosted several artistes from Nagaland, including Alobo Naga, Nise Meruno, Musik-A, Trance Effect and Pink Eye.
The event is scheduled to take place on June 19 at The Maroon Room, Guwahati.
