KOHIMA — A massive fire that broke out near
NST Junction in Mon town on Sunday around midnight destroyed several commercial
and residential buildings.
Second OC of Fire Station, Mon, Chingtai, informed Eastern
Mirror that they received a call at around 12:30 am on Monday after which two
fire tenders were immediately pressed into service. The two fire tenders made a
total of five trips to douse the fire, which lasted for a few hours.
However, there was no report of loss of life or injury.
According to the officer, the cause of the fire is still
unknown, and an investigation is on.
Over a dozen shops, including pharmacies, and a few
residential houses were damaged by the fire.
Efforts are on to identify all the affected families and
individuals, Chingtai added.
