DIPHU — Five shops were damaged in a massive fire that broke out at Bakaliaghat market under Bakulia police station in the wee hours on Thursday.
No casualty was reported. The shopkeepers suspected the cause of fire to electric short circuit from one of the cloth stores, which later engulfed other adjoining shops.
The residents have complained the delay of Fire and Emergency Service in reaching on time to put out the fire. It was informed that there is no fire service in Bakulia and in the event of such incident it has to come from either Howraghat or Diphu.
The residents have demanded to set up a fire station in Bakulia.
