DIMAPUR — A sofa-making factory was completely
gutted in a massive fire that broke out at Block-1 of Thahekhu village,
Dimapur, in the wee hours of Monday.
When contacted, sub-inspector T. Akamba Tikhir of West Fire
Station informed Eastern Mirror that they received a distress call at 1:58 am,
after which two fire tenders along with personnel were promptly dispatched to
the scene.
The two fire tenders from West Fire Station were joined by
three more from the Central Fire Station, and the fire was doused within two
hours.
According to the fire officer, cotton materials and
machinery in the factory worth around INR 60 lakh were completely destroyed in
the fire. However, there was no report of any casualty.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical
short circuit.
