DIMAPUR — A fire broke out at Thilixu Block-2 in Dimapur on Friday, destroying five thatch houses. No casualties were reported.
Personnel from the Central Fire Station said a distress call was received at 11.14 am, following which three fire tenders along with fire personnel were immediately dispatched to the location.
Reinforcements from the West Fire Station and Chümoukedima Fire Station also rushed to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the fire had already been brought under control by the Central Fire Station team.

The blaze was completely doused within an hour of firefighters reaching the spot. Officials said that timely intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby areas, though the house owners were unable to salvage any belongings.
The cause of the fire and the estimated loss of property were yet to be ascertained.
