Fire destroys building, businesses in Dimapur's trading hub

Dimapur: A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Tuesday at Murgipati, close to St. Mary Higher Secondary School in Dimapur.

Central Fire Station's Duty Commandant, Sub-Inspector Bonom Konyak, informed Eastern Mirror that they received the call at approximately 3:30 am, and they were able to extinguish the fire by 7 am.

Konyak informed that the Fire department acted swiftly, deploying four fire tenders from the Central Fire Station, two from the West Fire Station, and one from the Chumoükedima Fire Station.

The fire resulted in the complete destruction of several businesses, including a pharmacy’s medicine storage facility, a water purifier storage facility, Miniso’s storage facility, a bicycle shop, a sofa set furniture shop, and disposable paper plate and cup storage facilities.

The estimated loss of properties due to the fire was approximately INR 20 to 25 lakh, not including the cost of the building, it was informed.

No casualties were reported in the incident, while the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
