Dimapur, Dec. 29: Fire was reported in Dimapur on Fri. Dec. 29 at Burma Camp bazaar in the neighbourhood of Namgalong colony rendering about hundred households homeless razing the thatch houses to the ground.
The incident is said to have occurred at around 1:30 pm though the exact time could not be ascertained. Seven fire tenders which included two from the Chumukedima Fire Station were pressed into service. It took almost two hours to control the inferno, Fire department officials informed.Fire department officials said to have received information about the fire at around 2:15 pm. Traffic congestion added to their woes however.
The number of people affected by the incident and the estimated loss from damage could not be ascertained at the time this report was being filed. A relief camp for the affected families from freewill donations and with assistance of the Dimapur district administration is being set up. No casualty was reported.
