Kohima, March 27 (EMN): The importance of fire and emergency services was highlighted in the state assembly on the last day of the budget session on Monday when opposition MLA Picto raised concern that there was no fire service in his constituency’s Atoizu ADC headquarter.
The MLA pointed out that as per government policy, fire and emergency services should be established at every ADC headquarters. However, he said there was no fire station in Atoizu town.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio agreed that fire services should be available in all the townships or in crowded habitations across the state. Empathising with the concern raised by the opposition MLA, the chief minister stated that the reason behind the service not reaching to all the administrative centres could be due to state resource constraints.
He assured that as per the resource available, fire services would be extended to all the required places.
