The ACAUT Nagaland along with eight colonies/village councils—Kevijau Colony, Lhomithi Colony, Y. Zhimo, Naga Gaon, Signal Angami, Viola Colony, Metha Colony and Rio Colony have filed an FIR against the NSCN- IM functionary/cadres for ‘issuing illegal tax receipts’ to the businessmen of these colonies.
The FIR has been lodged at the Sub Urban Police Station after having received complaints from the business community with regard to ‘forceful’ collection of ‘Shop Registration Tax’ in the market. ‘Shop Registration Tax’ slips amounting from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3000 are said to have been charged. Such ‘illegal taxation’ from other undergrounds are also said to be in regular practice in and around the district.
Sources said similar cases will also be filed against other outfits involved ‘forceful’ collection of ‘Shop Registration Tax.’
