Accordingly, the union lodged a complaint at Phek Police Station, and the detected defaulters were handed over to the police for necessary legal action.
The president informed that the ILP verification drive is a regular activity carried out by the union within its jurisdiction every year, and added that the drive will continue in the days to come.
The Inner Line Permit is a mandatory document under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, for all Indian citizens from outside the state entering Nagaland.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland Police detected a total of 644 ILP defaulters across six districts bordering Assam during an intensified drive carried out in the run-up to the Assembly elections on April 10 and the 11th.
