A recent conference by an organization representing village development boards in Nagaland had criticized Nagaland government’s infamous tradition of diverting funds or withholding funds – for whatever reasons. Thankfully, at least in the instance of the controversial so-called ‘foothill road’ project, the chief minister of the state has “endorsed” funds to be sanctioned.
The Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee issued a note on Tuesday expressing gratitude to the chief minister of the state for giving his “prompt endorsement to the concerned department with regards to release of bills of construction of Doyong bridge and earth cutting at Ao sector”.
“NFHRCC highly appreciates the honorable chief minister for prompt endorsement to the concerned department with regards to release of bills of construction of Doyong Bridge and earth cutting at Ao sector. The committee also acknowledges the honorable chief minister for giving a positive endorsement for issuance of work order for the remaining sectors,” the message stated.
While hoping for “more development and understanding by fulfilling the aspiration of the Naga people”, the group also appreciated what it called the “understanding arrived at between the Rengma and Sumi brothers for avoiding all the hiccups and hindrances with regards to alignment at Rengmapani-Niuland sector”.
The committee appreciates the department in concern for “making the alignment technically feasible at Rengmapani-Niuland Sector”.
The group informed that it would be visiting the on-going construction of the Doyong Bridge as well as the Rengmapani-Niuland sector on May 15. The members of the organization are requested to assemble in their treasurer’s residence at 7 am, the note stated.
