representatives of political parties during the release of electoral roll in
Dimapur on Friday.
DIMAPUR — A
meeting of administration and various political parties in connection with the
final publication of electoral roll with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying
date was held across Nagaland on Friday.
Kohima: In Kohima, a meeting was held at the conference hall
of the deputy commissioner’s office. Speaking at the meeting, the deputy
commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, urged the political parties to
intensify efforts to sensitise members and ensure enrollment of all eligible
citizens, as the number of new enrollments remains low.
He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in
strengthening democratic processes. The DC also distributed both hard and soft
copies of the finalised electoral roll to the representatives of recognised
political parties and assistant electoral registration officers.
He further encouraged stakeholders to verify and ensure
accuracy of the voter list in their respective areas.
Tuensang: The draft publication of final electoral rolls for
all the assembly constituencies in Tuensang district was held under the
chairmanship of the additional deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Shelley Katiry,
at the conference hall of the DC’s office in Tuensang town.
Kiphire: The final draft publication of electoral roll for
two assembly constituencies in Kiphire district namely 59 Seyochung-Sitimi and
60 Pungro-Kiphire was held at the conference hall of the DC’s office in Kiphire
town.
As per the final electoral roll 2025, the total number of
electors recorded in Kiphire district stands at 58,856 (29683 male and 29173
female) showing a net increase of 607 from the previous draft electoral roll.
Mokokchung: Review meeting with political parties for final
publication of electoral roll was held at DC’s conference room in Mokokchung
town.
In his short speech, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung,
Thsuvisie Phoji, emphasised the importance of transparency and collaboration in
ensuring a free and fair election. He also thanked the political parties for
their participation and constructive feedback.
The DC reiterated the election office’s commitment to
conducting impartial and transparent elections. He further appealed to all
political parties to promote peaceful and fair electoral practice.
The ADC has highlighted steps taken including field verifications
and grievance redressed mechanisms to ensure accuracy and the efforts to
include special categories of voters such as senior citizens, PwDs and first
time voters. The ADC also informed the political parties that the final copy of
the electoral roll would be available for inspection at his ADC.
Dimapur: The release of final photo electoral roll in
Dimapur was held at the ADC office chamber, which was presided over by Zakabo V
Rotokha, ADC and electoral registration officer, Dimapur, with representatives
of political parties, election officials and stakeholders.
Rotokha emphasised the importance of accuracy and
inclusivity in the roll, urging collective efforts to ensure every eligible
voter’s participation.
The revision process saw an increase in registered voters
from 1,22,501 in the draft roll to 1,24,038 in the final roll—a net addition of
1,537 voters. A total of 1080 service voters and 354 persons with disabilities
were registered.
Rotokha informed that there was a 1.25% increase in voter
registration and nearly 99% EPIC coverage in Dimapur
Phek: The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and electoral
registration officer of Phek, Roupfukuotuo Nuodi, has informed that the list of
amendments to the draft electoral roll for 16 Pfutsero AC, 17 Chizami AC, 19
Phek AC and 20 Meluri AC has been prepared with reference to January 1, 2025 as
the qualifying date and in accordance with registration of Electors Rules,
1960.
He informed that a copy of the electoral roll together with
the said list of amendments has been published and would be available for
inspection at his office.
Peren: The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and
electoral registration officer (ERO) of Peren, Keyirangding Hegui, informed
that the list of amendments to the draft electoral roll for the 6 Tening and 7
Peren Assembly Constituencies has been prepared with reference to January 1,
2025 as the qualifying date and in accordance with the Registration of Electors
Rules, 1960.
The ERO stated that a copy of the said roll together with
the said list of amendments has been published and would be available for
inspection at his office and the concerned booth level officers (BLO) of
respective polling station/ area.
