Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO), Kohima, Anoop Khinchi, urged the zonal and sector magistrates to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the ensuing Lok Sabha election scheduled on April 11.
Deputy Commissioner stated this during a coordination meeting of the zonal and sector magistrates along with master trainer held in his office’s conference hall, Kohima, on April 9.
Making a final briefing for the smooth conduct of Lok Sabha election 2019, Deputy Commissioner stated that zonal magistrates would be the overall in-charge. He also stated that sector magistrates have important role for the successful conduct of the election. He directed them to check their respective polling stations where proper voting compartments have been set up and to ensure that secrecy of the vote is not compromised and also to take care of any other pending requirement.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the sector officers to ensure that all the polling materials and important forms are collected by their polling teams before they move out for their respective polling stations. He also pointed out that the most important task of the sector officers on the poll day would be the mock poll. He asked the sector officers to ensure mock poll starts on time (i.e. by 6 am) and to start the actual polling process after the mock poll is cleared.
The DC further asked them to keep in touch with their respective polling stations within the first two hours of the polling day by visiting them and to report starting of the actual polling. He also reminded them on Form 17C which has to be deposited and to ask their presiding officers not to close the polling station before 4 pm.
ADC Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa; AEO Toshimeren; and master trainer Chubayanger also briefed the gathering on the importance of mock poll where certain things have to be taken care and also to report immediately in the event of any failure of EVM and VVPAT on the polling day.
