Fin. dept. denies ‘double drawal’

Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): Following allegations that the state government had indulged in withdrawing money on two separate occasions for the same project, the department of Finance on Monday stated that there were “no such double drawal as alleged.” In a press statement, the department informed: “As per records of Finance department, an amount of Rs. 1002.50 lakh was received from the government of India during March. Based on the proposal received in Finance department, this amount was released during July 2016. A similar amount was received in March 2017 as 2nd instalment for the same works, and the same was released to the department during May 2017. “There is, therefore, no such double drawal as alleged. The amounts released were based on actual receipts from the government of India. The above releases were made under the centrally sponsored scheme - “grants under proviso to Article 275(1)” under the ministry of Tribal Affairs, government of India.”
