Kohima, Oct. 11 (EMN): The Film Association of Nagaland (FAN) on Monday announced an online short film competition on the theme, 'The New Normal'.
This was informed during a press conference, held at East Gate Hotel, Kohima addressed by FAN President Kivini Shohe, FAN General Secretary Yapangnaro Longkumer and Joint Director of Department of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) Asangla Imsong along with members of FAN.
Longkumer informed that the competition would be open for everyone irrespective of professions and not confined to professionals alone. "What we are looking forward to is not the video quality but the content", she said.
She maintained that the event is being held in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) and Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) and the winners of the competition would be announced during the Nagaland Film Festival 2021.
She said that the theme of the competition 'The new normal' was chosen keeping in mind the new way of life that people have adapted following the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic .
The official informed that the submission period is from October 12 till November 12, 2021.
The president, FAN Kivini Shohe meanwhile observed that there has been a growth of filmmaking among the young people in the state, while she exuded hope that the competition would provide a platform and encouraged young people to venture into film making.
She added that people experienced Covid-19 differently and maintained that there will be many untold stories and personal experiences during these times and maintained that FAN wants to promote story tellers even in the future.
Meanwhile, Asangla Imsong informed that the department is contemplating to organise the third edition of Nagaland Film Festival. She added that the department’s draft for the film policy of the State is ongoing, while she also pointed out the need to have a Film Felicitation Office (FFO).
The winner of the competition will be awarded INR 25,000 and certificate, second will receive INR 15,000 and certificate and third position will win INR 10,000 and certificate.
Accordingly, the terms and conditions were set that the maximum length of the film will be 10 minutes with maximum file size of 700 MB, while the film can be shot on phone or video camera; and the contest will be open to all citizens of Nagaland except members of FAN.
It added that language of the film should be in English or in any vernacular with English subtitles, and it can be submitted to filmassociationofnagaland@gmail.com
The organisers informed that the competition will be judged by a representative from FAN, DIPR and TaFMA each.
