Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has mourned the demise of a veteran leader and NNC CEC member, Tsonuyi Venyo, who breathed his last on May 1.
The FGN press release issued by ministry of rali wali has described Venyo as a true Naga patriot whose commitment and zeal for the Naga cause was unquestionable. It has extolled him as a freedom fighter, a God fearing man, a social worker, a good orator, a good leader and possessed God given wisdom to lead and solve problems.
Tsonuyi Venyo supported Venyiyi Rhakhu and was staunchly opposed to the Shillong Accord of 1975 throughout his life, the release stated adding in his service to the Naga nation spanning almost 57 years, Venyo had served in various capacities.
Born on September 28, 1943, he joined the Naga national service on July 3, 1961, as razu peyu FGN. In 1970, he was elected as leacy secretary of Chakhesang region, secretary of Chakhesang regional council NNC in 1973, Lieutenant of Naga Army in 1974, tatar of FGN from 1985 to 2007, and a member of CEC NNC from 2008 till his death.
FGN lamented that in his death, Nagas have lost a true son of the soil. It has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to grant them strength to bear with the lost. It has further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
