Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): President of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), Gen. (Retd.) Viyalie Metha, has mourned the demise of its keyie kilonser, Gaibon Panmei, who passed away on January 4 in Samziuram village under Peren district after prolonged illness.
Gaibon Panmei, son of Rangtaujei Panmei, was born on March 1, 1934, in Longjang village, Zeliangrong Region, Nagaland. He joined the national service (NNC/FGN) on December 20, 1957, and served the nation till his last breath. He had served the nation in various capacities as tatar, midan peyu, deputy rali wali kilonser, full-fledged rali wali kilonser and keyie kilonser. He was also a recipient of civil service awards and Nagaland Star, the highest award of the Naga nation.
Metha has described him as one of the senior most national leaders with clean image. He lamented that his sudden demise has caused an irreparable loss and left a vacuum which would be difficult to fill for ages to come. He added that the sacrifices rendered by him to the nation would always be cherished by the posterity.
He has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the eternal rest of the departed soul.
