Yes, ‘Dimapur is mirror of Nagaland’
Dimapur, Dec. 12: The 6th edition of the Dimapur Night Carnival 2018 (DNC) was opened to the public on Wed. Dec. 12 at the Naga Shopping Arcade in Dimapur by minister for Health and Family Welfare, Pangnyu Phom, as the event’s special guest.
In his address, the legislator remarked that the people of Dimapur were ‘the most fortunate citizens’ and called the city the 'mirror of Nagaland.'
Phom said the people of Dimapur should be proud of the city as ‘we are fortunate to be in the commercial hub of Nagaland and Northeast with many wanting to settle in Dimapur but are less fortunate to have the opportunity to settle.’ He urged the citizens of the district to be an example to the people of the state.
Further, the legislator exhorted the organisers and participants of the carnival to take the platform and opportunity to display Naga products. "Nagas have every right to be proud of our products," he asserted.
The Naga people have many talents in term of entertainment and entrepreneurship. Events such as the night carnival should be taken as an opportunity and ‘should provide opportunities for the many educated unemployed,’ he said and urged the people to work toward solving the problem of unemployment in the state.
Lauding the organisers for keeping up with the programme and maintaining its continuity, Phom urged the citizens of Dimapur to cooperate with the district administration and to support law and order to see Dimapur grow.
Also, he called on the local talents to exhibit their work ‘wisely for their better future’ and for the good of the Nagas to be on the world’s map.
The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, also the chairman of the carnival, Sushil Kumar Patel remarked that the annual night carnival was the most exciting event for Dimapur and its people and for guests visiting the state.
The deputy commissioner said that Dimapur and Nagas are second to none in terms of entrepreneurship. Events like the carnival provide a platform to entrepreneurs of the state, he said.
The deputy commissioner expressed hope that Dimapur would ‘feel the colours and also boost the business of local entrepreneurs’ through this event.
The carnival is organised jointly by the district administration, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Business Association of Nagas, and the East Dimapur Business Association.
This year the Night Carnival, which will conclude on Dec. 16, has more than 250 stalls. Some of its attractions are a daily bumper draw; and musical performances.
