
Dimapur, March 12 (EMN): The additional director of Food and Civil Supplies, Temsu Jamir, launched the ‘Financial inclusion application in ePoS devices’ at Ao Khel in Notun Bosti Colony, Dimapur, on March 11.
‘Financial Inclusion Application in ePoS Devices’ is one of the ministry’s directives on transformation of fair price shops (FPS). It is a new initiative to improve the viability of FPS for sustainability and effective delivery of targeted public distribution system (PDS) by improving the usage of ePoS devices and ultimately promote ‘cashless transaction facility at the FPS level, an update from the department stated.
Speaking at the launch event, Temsu Jamir stated that selected FPS would become the business correspondent for the bank(s) adding that the ePoS device at FPS would work as a micro ATM, which would cater to the service of the public in the surrounding area/ neighbourhood.
Also speaking on the occasion, I Sashi Pongen, retired DGM of SBI, stated that the introduction of financial inclusion applications at the FPS would open up new avenues/ opportunities in the state. He also highlighted numerous ways of how it would be beneficial for the public and also for the selected FPS in the state.
The department informed that it has launched the financial inclusion in all the 78 FPS under Dimapur sadar. It further stated that the same would be rolled out in the remaining districts of the state.
The programme was chaired by S Kavito Aomi (ADS), while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Tongpang Longkumer, GB of Notun Basti, and a brief report on financial inclusion application was delivered by Jungshi S Jamir, Inspector (MIS).
