Dimapur, Dec. 15: In order to clear any doubts, the department of Food & Civil Supplies has issued a clarification with regard to distribution of foodgrains under National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 in Nagaland.
In a statement on Thursday, the department informed that there are 2, 85,226 ration cards under PHH and AAY covering 14, 05,956 beneficiaries by abolishing BPL and APL. The release said the scale of issue of foodgrains is 5kg per person under PHH and 35kg per ration card holder under AAY at the rate of Rs 3 per kg which have been already uploaded in the department’s portal.
The department also informed that due to non-finalisation of transportation costs, the State stockiest transports the foodgrains at their own expenses on credit.
Stating that the coverage of beneficiaries has been determined as per 2011 census, the department felt that all genuine persons/households are covered and NFSA implemented successfully. The release said all stakeholders including village councils, town councils, GBs and officials assist the department for judicious and fair preparation of ration cards.
However, it said individuals/households concerned possessing more than one ration card created confusion.
The department is taking serious initiative against corruption at the grassroots level and taking steps to check such multiple holding of cards.
With a view to streamline fair distribution of foodgrains among all genuine persons/families, the department has instructed to furnish Aadhar. However, as of now only 26,700 have submitted Aadhar due to which the department could not speed up the Aadhar seeding, the release said.
Therefore, the department requested all beneficiaries to submit their Aadhar at the earliest and cooperate with it for judicious policy implementation.
