Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): In a first of its kind in Mokokchung zone, a total of 58 food business operators (FBO) including self help groups (SHG) were issued food safety training and certification (FoSTaC).
The certification to this effect was initiated by the Food Safety and Standard Authority of INDIA (FSSAI) and the department of Health and Family Welfare.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, stated that various food safety activities/ audit were conducted by MS Certification Services LTD, Kolkata, an FSSAI empanelled agency and food safety wing, Mokokchung zone.
Report stated that a total of 20 restaurants and cafes were also audited for hygiene rating out of which 6 achieved ‘excellent’ and 14 achieved ‘very good’ rating, while five high risk units such as bakery and hotel were accessed out of which 2 got A+ and 3 got ‘B’ rating.
It stated that one fruit and vegetable market in Mokokchung was certified as clean fruit and vegetable market, while Clark Theological College (CTC) and Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung district are certified as models for ‘eat right campus.’
The 23 Assam Rifles at Mokokchung Mandir was also audited and certified under BHOG (blissful and hygienic offering to god), 2 residential schools, one in Mokokchung and the other in Zunheboto district were under the process of certification as models under ‘eat right school.’
C Merenlemba, designated food safety officer, stated that food safety Mokokchung zone encompasses Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Tuensang and Longleng districts. He further added that the upcoming cycle would cover the remaining districts of the zone.
