Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): Creative Arts Committee of Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung organised a three-day 4th edition of ‘September Mélange,’ which commenced on September 6 and culminated on September 8 coinciding with the college foundation day. It is one of the biggest events of the college celebrating the skills, talents and creativity of the students.
An update from the college stated that the inaugural programme was graced by Sentilong Ozukum, SDO (Civil) of Mokokchung, as the special guest, wherein he encouraged the students to be creative in different areas and to feel alive in their creativity.
The inaugural programme was followed with the inauguration of stalls and exhibitions by the special guest.
It stated that various competitions such as cosplay, flower arrangement, dialogue writing, spin a yarn (story narration), dance solo, debate, singing (solo), painting, photography and the battle of bands were organised.
Lit-Colloquium III, a talk series on the topic “Gender gap in political participation and political knowledge of youth in Nagaland” was also initiated by the English department with Lipokrenla Jamir, assistant professor of Political Science at Zunheboto Government College and research scholar, as the resource person.
Meanwhile, the 63rd foundation day of the college was celebrated with the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, as the special guest.
Various awards for academic excellence were also given away during the programme. The special guest has congratulated the college on the achievements and lauded the recipients of different meritorious awards.
It stated that CAAT Award (Chubainla Jamir Academic Award for topper) was conferred to Sashimongla for Zoology along with INR 10,000 and certificate.
Dr. Longrizung award for academic excellence was conferred to Alice Pradhan for Political Science and Yashimongla for Mathematics. They were awarded INR 5000 and certificate each.
Linnaeus Award (Botany) was conferred to Nungshinaro Ozukum along with INR 3000 and certificate.
Dr. AK Chaudhary Excellence Award (Mathematics) was conferred to Yashimongla along with INR 5000 and certificate.
Dr. Watimongla Pongener Award (English) was conferred to Tainiu L Khiamnuingan along with INR 5000 and certificate.
The Department of Education Excellence Award was conferred to Itilemla along with INR 2000 and certificate.
The Department of Sociology Excellence Award was conferred to Takatemshi along with INR 2000 and certificate.
University toppers were awarded to Putusen in Geography and Yashimongla in Mathematics. They received INR 5000 each.
The Evangelical Union Student of the Year Award was conferred to Nuchai K Shiu (Economics) along with INR 5000 and certificate.
