Dimapur, Feb. 14: In a sheer case of ignorance, renowned national newspaper including a northeast online news portal published a news report under caption “Coercing MLAs to resign is illegal, says Nagaland speaker” dated February 11, but with a photo of President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in place of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Chotisuh Sazo.
Interestingly, the same national newspaper also carried news on Northeast with the headline “MNDF announces names of 15 candidates for Manipur election” dated February 12, 2017 with a photograph of a different person by the name of Lien Gangte. The person, whose photo was uploaded instead of the MNDF vice president, is a self employed British citizen originally from Manipur and currently living in France (as per account of the person in photo).
The blunder on Xi Jinping and Chotisuh Sazo, which was already uploaded on their news website, was shared by a Delhi based social activist and Nagaland representative in Delhi Police for Northeast, Chumbemo M Patton, on face book with the caption: “Friends in the media who are aware of #Northeast are cracking up and also royally pissed at the ignorance of the national paper the times of India ....... they can’t differentiate between Xi Jinping the Chinese president and a Nagaland #MLA ... the speaker so so to say Mr.#Sazo ... amid all the s***** things going on in Nagaland this is like rubbing salt over the wounds by indirectly being racial and hinting that we are Chinese ?????? stupified....mortified...... petrified....by your ignorance here ..... tsk....tsk”.

While the photo of China President Xi Jinping (which was uploaded in place of NLA Speaker Sazo) from the national news portal has been removed but the photo of Xi Jinping is still attached at the Northeast online news portal till the filing of this report.
