Farmers training held in Kigwema

Dimapur, May 30 (EMN): Office of the Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tesophenyu, in Kohima district organised a one-day capacity building programme for progressive farmers in Kigwema village on May 27. ACTO (Plant Protection), K Michael Pienyu, spoke on “Management of fall armyworm, and ACTO (Animal Science), Dr. Temjennungsang, spoke on “Silage feeding in pigs” in the first session, respectively. In the second session, Pienyu highlighted the main concepts, ideas and principles of “system of rice intensification (SRI)” besides demonstrating the use of cono weeder for weeding in paddy fields and distributed pesticides to the participants. An update from Dr. V Akashe Zhimomi, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, Kohima, informed that a total of 43 people attended the training programme.
