Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): ATMA Akuhaito block in Zunheboto district conducted one-day training and demonstration programme in Khrimtomi village on April 25.
Resource person, Akangtula Jamir spoke on “Self-sufficiency in vegetable production.” She expounded on how vegetable production responds to demand and creates important economic opportunities especially for small farmers.
Kaiho Achumi, ATM, gave a practical demonstration on “Berkeley’s method of composting,” which is an inexpensive and easy method that is able to turn organic matter into finished compost in 18 days. The method is easy to set up and take down. Besides, it is basically bio-logically rich that can be used to make organic fertilisers.
The programme ended with discussion, feedback and seeds distribution. Altogether, 28 farmers attended the training programme.
Meanwhile, Akuhaito block also conducted BFAC meeting in Lokobomi village on April 27 with the participation of eight farmers from the block. A demonstration on cultivation of sponge gourd was also conducted by Akangtula Jamir.
