DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Peren, conducted a field day on duckery (White Pekin duck)-cum-farmer scientist interaction programme in Ngwalwa village on Friday.
An update from KVK Peren informed that participants were sensitised about the backyard duck farming with White Pekin duck on the theme “Seeing is believing” at farmers field.
The programme was chaired by Dr. L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science), wherein she elaborated on the concept of field day and its importance for horizontal spread of the technology.
Hingleu, Head GB of Ngwalwa village, acknowledged KVK Peren for providing the technology benefit in the form of demonstration.
C Dory Yanthan, DFO and ATMA project director, Peren, congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to work sincerely for sustainability and also highlighted the importance of duck component in integrated farming system.
Z James Kikon (ACTO, Soil Sciecne), spoke on how to start entrepreneurship through livestock farming with technical support from KVK.
Altogether, 45 participants including officials visited the demonstration units to see the performance of White Pekin duck.
