DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8: ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema organised awareness-cum-farmer’s scientist interaction programme at Hekheshe village, Dimapur on November 8 under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).
During the programme, resource persons motivated the farmers to get information from various agricultural services available in the state and nearby vicinity and various ways to improve their productivity and livelihood.
A village survey through Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) was also conducted to get first hand information on agriculture and allied activities in the village and discussed in the presence of villagers in the form of the village resource map.
Scientists from ICAR-National Research on Mithun, Medziphema namely Dr. Saroj Toppo, principal scientist, M.H. Khan; senior scientist, Drs. J. K. Chamuah; P. Perumal and Lalchaliani, scientist and Sosang Longkumer, research associate and technical officer from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Phek, Rinku Bharali along with villagers discussed on various aspect of agriculture and allied sectors on the transit walk. As livelihood support, poultry chicks (Vanaraja) were distributed among the farmers. Stationery items were also rimary school students and parents were also given some. The village council members supported the activities and appreciated the effort taken by ICAR-NRC on Mithun for the development of the village. Finally the chairman of the village has given vote of thanks to the scientists and participated farmers.
