Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a three-day training programme about the theme ‘Introduction to National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET)’ for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI in Medziphema from April 11 to the 13th. A press release informing about the event from the association was received on Saturday.
According to the press release, director SAMETI, Dr. I Amenla; Dr. Ithika C Swu; Tiajungla Longchar; Vikaho Chophi; and deputy project directors of SAMETI, Sentinaro Longchar, were resource persons.
The training program covered theoretical sessions on background and introduction to the central sponsored scheme NMAET, organizational structure at national Level and IDWG functions, organizational structure at state level and district, SAMETI’s objectives and activities, farm school and its activities, discussion and interaction modalities of public and private partnership, innovative activities, and such. The training also included a field trip to Pineapple farm school at Molvum village in Medziphema. The students interacted with its farm school teacher, Veikhochong, the press release issued.
Dr. I Amenla congratulated the participants on being the first batch to be trained on the topic of NMAET. She stated that there was added responsibility on their part as there are four sub-missions under NMAET for which their services as extension workers is vital. She also encouraged them to be the voice of the farmers and do justice to the department by delegating duties sincerely so that vision 2025, “Food for all,” would become a reality.
The training program saw a good turnout of participants from all districts of the state, the press release added.
