Focusing on National Food Security, a two batch Training Programme was held at Farmer’s hostel 13th to 14th and 15th to 16th May, organized by state Agriculture Research Station (SARS), Yimsemyong, Mokokchung under National Food Security Mission.Delivering the keynote address in both the training T. Supongmar Longchar, Junior Plant Breeder (JPB), Training Coordinator, said the programme was organized for the benefit of wet Rice cultivation farmers and creates awareness to cultivation. He also spoke about the present food scenario against ever increasing population growth in the country. The training was mostly focused on practical oriented crop production technology of coarse cereal crop and special reference to system of Rice Intensification (SRI).
During the training session, Moangsangla, Assistant Palant Pathologist (APPP) also spoke on the topic pest and Disease Management for better plant protection.
In technical session T. Supongmar Longchar JPB also spoke on the following topic; Seed treatment, nursery management, land preparation, line marking transplanting technique, cono weeder operation for weed management and water management technology and SRI principle, followed by field demonstration.
An interaction session with the farmers was also held after the programme where the farmer highlighted various problems faced by them in their fields.
More than fifty farmers from 22 villages and also field functionaries attended the training and benefitted from these trainings. In the valedictory function, distribution of Training Certificates, seed materials and line markers, among others, to the participants.
