Mokokchung, April 11 (EMN): Altogether 23 villages and other areas under Mokokchung district availed various ‘farm inputs’ under “Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region” on April 11 in Mokokchung.
During the distribution of farming auxiliaries, an official from the department of Agriculture, I Lipokonen Jamir, assistant agronomist, said that 130 pieces of knapsack sprayers, 3.5 metric tons of Neem pellets, 1500 packets of Neem oil, 2300 bottles of Bhoojeevan , 200 packets of trochoderma and 120 packets of Pseudomonas have been distributed through the scheme. He added that 774 farmers have been registered with the department so far.
Realizing the potential in organic farming in the north eastern region of the country, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare had launched the central scheme “Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region” for implementation in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, during the 12th plan period.
