Dimapur, October 7: The 4th Faith-in-Action Taekwondo Championship got underway on Thursday at Dimapur Badminton Indoor Stadium based on the theme “Excel through Taekwondo”.
Civil Engineer and Social worker RS Panesar graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address he stressed on the importance of sports, and that sports are an integral part of life so it is necessary for a healthy person.
Panesar said sports promote team effort and develop leadership. He also encouraged the participants to respect their seniors, elders, keep the good discipline, and keep their bodies fit. Meanwhile, Korean Grand Master Soeng Kuk jeong, 7th Dan, Black belt from Kukkiwon, South Korea was the special guest during the programme; he also will be the chief technical chairman for the two-day event.
Around 260 participants from different schools, academies are competing in ten different weight categories in five sections besides individual, group Poomsae and the best fighter’s competition.
