Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, has organised a farewell programme in honour of its retiring Assistant Professor, Dr. DK Singh, on July 21.
The faculties shared the qualities, talents and service of Dr. Singh during the programme.
Dr. DK Singh joined the College on November 1, 1983. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. DK Singh recalled how he had come to Nagaland as part of a trip to Tuli Paper Mill while working as a trainee chemist in a prestigious firm. Dr. Singh said he was totally mesmerised by the landscape of the place and charmed by the people of Nagaland.
When he was offered a job to work as a lecturer in Fazl Ali College, he jumped at the offer and since then he never looked back. He expressed his happiness on having served the people of Mokokchung, which he considered as an honour and a privilege. He greatly appreciated the customs and traditions of the people and reiterated that these were memories never to be forgotten, the press release stated.
President of Fazl Ali College Teachers’ Association, Watitoshi, has acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Singh in various capacities as ANGCTA representative, general secretary, auditor and Nominating Committee member.
Fellow colleagues also complimented on his calmness and sincerity towards concern for the students. He was described as an epitome of gentleness and punctuality, a man who lived by example that it is normal to go beyond the call of duty to serve the student community. His interests in life extended beyond Chemistry to Poetry, Literature and Music, the release said.
The college principal, Arenla Longkumer, congratulated him for having achieved his destination in good health.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Imtiwati Jamir, HoD of Physics Department, which concluded with a special prayer for the outgoing professor by Dr. Aotemshi, Department of Mathematics.
