Dimapur, May 18
Thanks to the lack of law and order in Nagaland and thanks to the financial crisis in the state, the hospitality industry in the state, restaurants and hotels in particular, has been hit badly. Also, it cannot improve its condition. The restaurants have decided that they will pay no “tax” to the underground groups unless there was only one of them. Members of the Nagaland Restaurant Association met on May 16 in Kohima. The organization issued a press release on Monday, May 18 reiterating the Naga public’s commitment to ‘one government, one tax’.
The members of the organization thoroughly deliberated the ‘financial crisis’ the state of Nagaland was facing and the law and order problems. ‘These problems are hampering the hotel and restaurant industries very badly and also ways and means to improve the industry in our state,’ the association stated in the press release.
After the meeting, the association passed a number of resolutions. “The Nagaland Restaurant Association adopted and resolved to abide by the Naga public mandate and ACAUT to stand firmly on ‘one govt; one tax’ which is the desire of each and every Naga citizen,” the restaurants’ managements stated.
The Nagaland Restaurant Association has asked the Naga underground groups to honor the desire of the Naga people.
