DIMAPUR — A three-day exhibition-cum-sales event, organised by the Women Entrepreneurs Network Nagaland (WENN) in collaboration with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), concluded at Pfutsero public ground in Phek district on Thursday.

The event was part of the nationwide Grameen Bharat Mahotsav and to commemorate the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025, spotlighting rural innovation and cooperative values.

The inaugural programme was attended by Dr. Pritpal Kaur, Superintendent of Police, Phek, as the special guest along with distinguished leaders from women’s organisations, civil societies and business communities across Phek district.

In her address, Dr. Pritpal Kaur emphasised the dignity of labour, importance of equal opportunities for women and the central role of agriculture in sustaining rural livelihoods. Her message inspired attendees to pursue self-reliance, embrace meaningful networking and work collectively toward shared prosperity across the district.

An update from WENN stated that leaders from various civil society organisations have encouraged the entrepreneurs on the importance of cultivating patience and resilience as foundational traits for entrepreneurs. They spoke on the need to empower individuals and communities to take ownership of their economic futures, especially in rural and semi-urban regions where traditional livelihoods are evolving.

The exhibition featured 35 stalls, which showcased a diverse array of local produce, traditional crafts and skill-building workshops, providing grassroots entrepreneurs with a platform to engage in sales, build networks, and gain visibility.

It added that the event drew enthusiastic participation from local residents, entrepreneurs and cooperative members, creating a dynamic space for exchange and collaboration.

It further stated that NABARD’s support underscored its ongoing commitment to promoting off-farm livelihood, financial inclusion and rural enterprise development across the northeast region. It added that through such collaborations, NABARD would continue to champion innovative models that strengthen local economies and empower marginalised communities.
