Excise (Narcotic Cell) Enforcement personnel manning the Inter-State Check gate at Khuzama detected and recovered a total 1015 cases of IMFL/ Beer from an Imphal bound Lahorijan truck bearing Registration No. MN-01/6171.
The contraband liquor was concealed by 60 (sixty) bags of Urea fertilizer to evade detection and arrest by the law enforcing agencies. However, due to the sincere efforts of the duty party, the above contraband articles were detected.
The case is now under investigation and the accused has been put under safe custody of the police while the seized articles have been kept under the Excise Malkhana.
The duty party was led by Assistant Inspector, Nokcha, along with Head Constable Anglong and Constables Khuming, Hetovi, Shikaho, Mangyang and Vetsuthrong.
In another incident, Excise Mobile Squad led by Assistant Inspector, Lanuyanger, seized 4800 bottles of assorted liquor on may 1 from the possession of one Pramod Yadav, son of P Yadav at Purana Bazaar.
Superintendent of Excise (MS), Katoho Sumi, said the accused has been booked under relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989, while the seized items have bdeen deposited at the unit malkhana.
