Dimapur, Sep 1 (EMN): Excise Department today claimed as the third top revenue generating departments in the State. The revenues were deposited to the State exchequer through fines collected for violation of NTLP Act.
The department had recently deposited Rs 4,97,000 revenue through fines made during the period from November 15, 2016, to August 24, 2017, by confiscating 20,813 bottles of IMFL including 14, 118 bottles of beer, 175 litres of country liquor, 2301 bottles of vodka, breezer to name a few in 497 detected number of cases. The market value of the seized articles amounts to Rs 50, 92, 830.
This report was made available by the Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, Mobile Squad (MS), Dimapur, Katoho Sumi at a destruction programme of seized liquor and drugs on Friday held at the Directorate of Excise and Prohibition, Dimapur.
Besides the liquor, between the period of September 19, 2015, to August 14, 2017, the department confiscated 7611 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 75 tablets of Becalm, 108 tablets of Pyvon Spas, 351 tablets of Nitrosun and 235 bottles of cough syrup.
Commissioner of Excise and Prohibition, Tarep Imchen, said many people do not realise the complex situation the department is working under extensive circumstances. Despite pressure from various factors under which the department is working, Imchen lauded the Excise personnel for executing commendable work. Imchen also maintained that Excise department is the third highest revenue generating establishments in the State.
