Dimapur, June 21: Excise personnel on duty stationed at the Chumukedima in Dimapur have seized a large consignment of the banned drug Spasmo Proxyvon from a taxi.
One person from Manipur has been arrested in this connection. The individual has been identified as one Thangkinlun Kipgen of N Khonom village under Senapati district in Manipur.
A press release from the Excise enforcement authorities on Tuesday stated that the personnel seized 53, 200 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon. “The seized consignments were sent from Kolkata by Kamrup Express train parcel service to Dimapur. From Dimapur, the consignments were picked up by a mule and were taking it to Imphal, Manipur,” the press release stated. “At the time of seizure, the drugs were found in two bags concealed beneath other bags of children toys and flip-flops. The drugs were meticulously packed and mechanically sealed in tea leave packs in order to evade detection.”
The authorities said that the cache was ‘one of the biggest in Dimapur in recent times.’
