Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): Dimapur district Excise personnel manning the Dillai check gate intercepted a truck and recovered 197 cases of assorted liquor on January 21 at around 8 pm.
An update from the superintendent of Excise and Prohibition informed that the consignment was found stashed beneath sacks of industrial raw materials. He added that one person identified as Kiran Singh (26), resident of Wangching under Thoubal district in Manipur has been arrested.
In another incident, Excise personnel manning the New Field check gate intercepted a truck and recovered 480 cases of assorted liquor concealed under furniture and household goods on January 21 at around 9:30 pm.
The Excise duty personnel arrested one person identified as Deva Singh (19), resident of New Keithelmanbi in Imphal West, Manipur, in this connection.
On preliminary inquiry, both the accused admitted that the contraband was loaded in Guwahati and was bound for Imphal in Manipur.
