Dimapur, May 21 (EMN): As part of the Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) activities, department of Excise and Prohibition has confiscated huge quantity of liquor from Half Nagarjan area on May 19 and arrested two persons in this connection.
According to T Arilong Longkumer, superintendent of excise & prohibition, the excise duty personnel had seized 168 bottles of beer (650 ml) from the possession of two persons identified as Azad Ali (27), son of Abdul Ali and resident of Nagarjan, and Fazal Ali (24), son of Jamal Ali and resident of Nagarjan. It stated that the accused persons were penalised under section 44 of NLTP Act 1989.
In another seizure, two accused persons identified as Narendar (27), son of Shivnath and resident of Khermahal, and) Vikash (27), son of Bishmuk and resident of Railgate were arrested on May 18 for possession 84 bottles of assorted IMFL. It stated that case has been registered against the two accused under the relevant section of the NLTP Act.
