DIMAPUR — Nagaland Excise department recovered various forms of narcotic drugs and liquor worth INR 1,08,51,180 and arrested 776 persons across the state during the period from January 1 to June 20, 2024.
During the period, the Excise department recovered 13,293 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 759 gram of heroin, 2100 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon and 14124 litre of country made liquor. It has also registered 775 cases.
An update from the commissioner of Excise and director of Prohibition, H Atokhe Aye, informed that the seizures were made the NLTP Act 1989, NDPS Act 1985 and the Drugs & Cosmetic Act 1940.
Meanwhile, the Excise department has cautioned the public to refrain from indulging in activities involving such illegal contraband items as it would invite punitive measures under the law.
It further stated that the Department has intensified its duty and surveillance at various sensitive places and the inter-state check gates for effectively preventing the inflow of liquor and other illicit items for the smooth and successful conduct of the ULB electioneering process.
