Dimapur Excise Department’s Narcotic Cell seized 2,460 bottles and cans of IMFL worth INR 1.95 lakh during liquor enforcement operations in August 2026.
DIMAPUR — The Narcotic Cell of the Excise Department, Dimapur, intensified liquor detection and enforcement activities throughout August as part of its ongoing efforts to curb the illegal possession, transportation and sale of liquor.
During the month, the Narcotic Cell seized 2,460 bottles and cans of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at approximately INR 1.95 lakh in connection with various liquor detection cases, the department stated in a press release.
The seizures were made during routine checking, Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCPs) along the inter-state Kushiabil four-lane road and highways, as well as during enforcement duties carried out by Excise personnel in and around Dimapur.
The Narcotic Cell reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement against the illegal trade and transportation of liquor and other prohibited substances under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989, and the NDPS Act, 1985.

It stated that regular detection and checking activities would continue in the coming days and warned outlet operators and defaulters to refrain from engaging in illegal activities.
Meanwhile, the District Excise and Mobile Squad Excise units, headed by their respective Superintendents of Excise, are also continuing enforcement activities simultaneously.
