CM TR Zeliang, Speaker Sazo condole

Chief Minister TR Zeliang has expressed sorrow at the demise of L.J Toshi Sangtam, former Minister of Nagaland today at 1 p.m. at his official residence at Tuensang after a brief illness. He was 81 and is survived by his wife and 4 daughters.
Describing Sangtam as a popular public leader and political pioneer of the undivided Tuensang district, Zeliang recalled that he served the people of the then Tuensang district in various important capacities, such as Secretary of Tuensang District Peoples’ Convention, Secretary, Tuensang Peace Meeting, Member and Vice Chairman of the Tuensang Regional Council.
Sangtam was subsequently elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Longkhim-Chare constituency in the third general election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly held in the year 1974 and he served as Minister for Transport & Communication, Geology & Mining, Zeliang said. “His death is a great loss to the people of Nagaland as a whole, and to the people of Tuensang district in particular,” Zeliang said in a condolence message the family and relatives of the bereaved. The chief minister also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
In a separate condolence message, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo expressed shock at the sudden demise of Sangtam, son of late Lolenmayang, of Chare Village.
“At this moment of grief, I sincerely express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to the Almighty God to grant them solace and courage to withstand the irreparable loss,” Sazo said and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
